Hello everybody,
Just to let you know a little bit about who I am. I'm an English software developer and project coordinator, currently (since 1990) living in Germany. My initial contact to personal computers was on an Apple IIe lying around unused in the office back in 1983, and the first one I bought was an ATARI ST two years later. Professionally, I started out programming for MS-DOS for IBM UK in 1986, which quickly progressed to OS/2, of course. My Windows journey started with Windows 3.0 in 1990, the first of five major Windows versions (3.x, 95, NT, 2000, XP) I've already had to deal with. Unfortunately, this means that, starting with Vista, I'll probably have to suffer the same number again before finally being able to retire - not exactly an exhilarating prospect!
My Sudoku experience started very late, having long-before rejected it as being too simple, my 13-year old neice typically completing a puzzle in around 3 minutes! What I didn't realize at the time is that this misconception was simply due to the unfortunate fact that 99% of the puzzles one finds in magazines and newspapers only require naked and hidden singles. Then, in September 2006, my father (an avid reader of The Times) introduced me to Killer Sudoku, and I became hooked. Unfortunately, my addiction is proving to be as much of a curse as a blessing, sapping more of my time than I would like and even putting my marriage at risk! At the same time, I'm glad that my wife is around, preventing me from spending as much time on the topic as I otherwise probably would and thus keeping me relatively sane.
When not arguing with my wife as to why I spend so much time on "crossword puzzles" (I've told her repeatedly that it's Sudoku, not crosswords, but she doesn't seem to want to listen!), I like to go jogging or mountain biking.
Mike
