We have a contradiction here.
From Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_diagonal "the main diagonal of a square matrix is the diagonal which runs from the top left corner to the bottom right corner. .... The other diagonal is called antidiagonal, counterdiagonal or minor diagonal."
In Braid Analysis - which handles broken diagonals too - the top left to bottom right diagonal direction is called the N direction, and the other one is called the Z direction (from the slopes of the middle strokes in each letter).
